Google is a member of the S&P500 index and the NASDAQ 100 index as well, giving Google a greater market liquidity, and thus making it obvious that Google trades on the NASDAQ exchange.

Google has seen increased volatility as of recent, with a particularly notable event being the result of an interview with Google's CFO George Reyes on CNBC television whom stated that growth for Google had been "mostly organic" resulting in a knee-jerk reaction from the market that initially caused an instant plummet of approximately 10% although the stock recovered marginally afterwards.

Recently, Google has broken the $400 mark and looks set to re-continue its upwards trend, however, earnings are expected to set the tone as Google has refused to give any form of guidance to this day on its anticipated earnings, causing this high level of unpredictability in such a large-cap stock.

Since their inception, Google has seen huge growth in its market, resulting in its stock more than quadrupling since its IPO of around $80 and it is only this year that growth appears to have slowed, resulting in some investors showing a degree of interest in notable Chinese search engine Baidu. link
